On the fourteenth day of December, we opened a beer that would be shared.
If the cap looks a bit crooked to you, it is. I accidentally opened it before taking the picture… excitement took over to see how good it smelled. My boyfriend loves smoked porters, and since this is a 2018 edition, I figured he hadn’t had this one before.
The smell of the smoke I could tell as soon as the beer was opened. I should have let my boyfriend smell it as well at the same time since unfortunately it didn’t last very long. This smoked porter is brewed by Alaskan Brewing Company in Juneau, Alaska. At 6.5% ABV, this ended up being a bit of a disappointment. The flavor had a burnt taste to it. It states on the bottle to enjoy now or age it for several years. We are thinking we should have let this one sit for a year or two, and maybe it would have had a different taste that would be better.
If you like smoked porters, pick this one up… your palette may be a bit different than ours!
