On the thirteenth day we opened a beer from Boulevard Brewing and Oskar Blues.
My boyfriend’s beer is the Nut Cracker, a Winter Warmer Ale, from Boulevard Brewing Company out of Kansas City, Missouri. When he took a sip and I asked him how it was, he said he’s sure I will absolutely love this one… I could sense the sarcasm in his voice, so I first smelled the beer. This definitely tasted like an IPA… At 7.8% ABV, we increased that percentage a bit more by adding a beer barrel bourbon to it, to help tame the bitterness. It helped some, but not a lot. If you are an IPA fan, definitely pick one of these up. If not, probably best to pass!
My beer is the Hotbox Coffee Porter, brewed by Oskar Blues Brewery, LLC in Longmont, Colorado. It was definitely better than the Nut Cracker beer! It has a nice, smooth coffee flavor. At 6.5% ABV, this is a very drinkable beer. If you are a coffee porter fan, definitely grab one of these to try yourself.
