On December 8, 2019, we opened a beer from Evil Twin Brewing, Sierra Nevada, and an Eggnog shot.
In the stout advent box, it was the Imperial Biscotti Break beer. This one is really good… easy drinking and a good overall stout flavor. It doesn’t have a wow factor, but definitely good. It was in a 1 pint can. This is brewed with coffee and with almond and vanilla added and is 11.5% ABV. We both agree that it is one that didn’t taste like it had that much alcohol. This is brewed by Evil Twin Brewing out of Stratford, CT.
Out of the standard advent box, it is my absolute favorite – another IPA! As soon as I get to five, I’m not doing anymore IPA’s. When I asked the Craft Beer Cellar how many would be in the standard box, they said 4-5. Maybe they are trying to put those all at the beginning for me… feels like it has been that many already, but so far it has been 3. One or two more to go. Anyways… my beer is Celebration, a Fresh Hop IPA. This is the 2019 edition, and brewed by Sierra Nevada Brewing Company out of Chico, CA and Mills River, NC. This one is 6.8% ABV. There is definitely the IPA taste and bitterness – however, it is a lot better than the unicorn ninja one. This one did not pour like there was dish soap in it though. For those that love IPA’s, I respect that taste you have for that type of beer. This is definitely a drinkable one. Maybe next year I’ll be setting these IPA’s aside and gift them to someone who would actually enjoy those. 🙂
Our shot of the night is Eggnog Liqueur. It is 13.75% ABV and one of us enjoyed the shot (not me). I am not an Eggnog fan as it was, but this shot was better than having a straight shot of everclear, whiskey, etc. I did at least try it but it had a taste of medicine to me. My better half said he’s not ever had Eggnog, but to him, it tasted good.
