On the seventeenth day of December, we opened a blonde ale and porter. When we first unwrapped these, I was tempted to just do a shareable of a beer I’ve got stocked up because it is that good… but since we can’t find it up here in the U.P. of Michigan, I try to make it last. Since it was my decision though, I decided we’d stick with what was unwrapped…
My boyfriend’s beer is the Bonito Blonde Ale by Ballast Point Brewing Company out of San Diego, California. As soon as I smelled the beer, I knew I should made a different choice… at 4.5% ABV, this has the smell of an IPA but surprisingly not the bitterness taste. There was more of a citrus flavor to it. Even though it didn’t taste bitter, this still is one that would not be purchased if we ran across it in the store. The picture of the fish on the can is cool though.
My beer is the Goose Parka Porter by Goose Island Beer Company out of Chicago, Illinois. At 5.3% ABV, this porter definitely had a bitterness to it that I wasn’t a big fan of. For that reason, I wouldn’t pick this one up… I do love the bottle caps though on the Goose Island beer bottles!
